Looking through some of those titles the words 'about bloody time' spring to mind.

    Marvellous news.

Wow. Brides of Dracula, at last! And Captain Clegg too. Great news.

Cue lots of worry over the next few months until we know whether they are all, Curse of the Werewolf especialy, fully uncut versions.

Wicked. But I don't actually like Brides of Dracula. I found it a rather dull watch.

With my stoic reluctance to purchase a multi-region player (because if I did I'd end up spending about £600 in one go buying all the R1 DVDs that R2 doesn't have ), I shall have to bide me time till some of 'em get released here. Brides and Evil of Frankenstein look like good buys.
No, that's not David Barnes - that's Joan Greenwood. But it's a mistake anybody could have made.

I've wanted Brides for ages, but I won't buy it on a DVD18 set

the ones previously issued on laserdisc by universal (i.e. everything except curse and clegg) ought to be uncut, as said laserdiscs certainly were. granted, we're looking at new transfers for the lot (at last&#33, but i see no reason why previously cut (and unrated, in the states) films should suddenly be censored.

Because it's Universal, and, like MGM, I have absolutely no faith in Universal's ability to deliver a topnotch product without screwing it up somewhere along the line. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if a cut version of at least one of these films was picked off the shelf by mistake. Especially Curse.

I wonder if these are gonna get a region 2 release and if so will it be the same format?

I'll get the R1 set if nothing else is on the horizon, but I would prefer a boxset with individual discs...or better still individual releases.

I'm not grumbling too much though as some of these films are the Hammer films I've been anticipating the most...especially Curse of the werewolf....just hope it's the longest cut we get.

Well all of these titles (apart from the never released on USA home video format NIGHT CREATURES) I have on Universals excellent laserdiscs. I won't by buying this set sadly just to get that one film. What's more there are no listed extras at the moment

It's been a long time since I last saw 'Evil of Frankenstein', 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Curse of the Werewolf' but I have happy memories. But as we're all saying, they'd better be uncut...

As you can imagine, I'm thrilled by this announcement. I've got all sorts of copies of these films (including a very, very old VHS off-air copy of Captain Clegg. It will be great to replace them with decent DVD versions (assuming they are decent, of course&#33

Of course, it's not the greatest collection of Hammer films ever assembled, but you can't complain too much when they're going to be about three quid each!
