Yes, I had a problem with Q2 as well. But it was during the conversation between Delgado and that awful bloke playing Quatermass, while they wer sat in a car. A quick bit of pixelation, yet, again, a clean disc.

This might sound strange but I had no problem with episode four of Q2 - Until I watched it again this afternoon when the opening sequence suddenly pixellated and jumped to Quatermass and the journalist driving to Winnderdon Flats !!!! WTF

Give the disc a wipe, I had the same problem in the scene where Quatermass, Ward & Fowler enter the food unit at Winnerden Flats - suddenly jumped to Ward on the side of the Dome. A good clean worked.

Fair enough . VidFiring Q2 would probably take away the surreal expressionistic atmosphere of the production as well

Yes totally serious . Whatever the short comings of the ridiculously over ambitious script I was left in awe at the sequence that starts with the workers firing a rocket into the dome and finishes with Quatermass meeting Pugh on the road . It`s like seeing someones nightmare play out and I thought all the sequences at the refinery were highly atmospheric . Such a pity Cartier and Kneale decided to give Ed Wood a run for his money with the final episode set on the asteroid

After seeing QUATERMASS AND THE PIT again earlier today I found myself irritated by jarring jumps between the filmed sequences and the VidFire ones . Better if QATP was left alone save for cleaning it up a little

Yeah, the jump from pristine 35mm film (taken from negatives?) and 405-line suppressed field telerecordings (even restored one) is pretty huge.

Sounds like the 1955 BBC, Reginald Tate produced, NIGHT WAS OUR FRIEND would have been interesting...

I reckon QATP could do with a new makeover now though. When it was restored, it was pretty state of the art but VidFire techniques have moved on so much it would benefit from being re-done.

I'm still very grateful we have what we have. The BBC boxset was and is a very special release.

What would make reissue sense is a HD restoration of the final, ITV series. Which we've waited for and speculated about for so long, it's almost painful.

    Indeed so.

It's a great pity they gave up on the Cult range (Doomwatch. DOOMWATCH!)

It was a great package at the time and I'm very glad they brought it out. I looked again at Pit recently though and thought it could look *much* better now with improvements in VidFire etc. A great shame the cult range ended before some of the prime candidates were released though, such as Out Of The Unknown, Doomwatch etc. I'd also have liked the range to bring out a colour recovered version of Sex Olympics!

I'd also be up for a decent restored set of the Euston Quatermass serial. It's been years since I saw that one (probably eighties)!

Apropos of not much, I picked up an original camera script for episode six of PIT last week.
