I read a long time ago that The Box of Delights was going to be released on DVD. Anyone know what's happening with it?
Also, what's the format of the next Tomorrow People DVD?

Just noticed on the Radio Times site that it would appear Box of Delights is due on dvd this year. Hopefully it will be episodic unlike the vhs.

Nice to see this coming out on disc. How's about a complete and unedited "Moondial", eh Worldwide???
Yeah, and The Machine-Gunners.Originally posted by Alan Hayes

And Carrie's War (1974) and the Enchanted Castle (1978).
And the Strange Affair Of Adelaide Harris and the Children Of Green Knowe and Tom's Midnight Garden (1988) too.
It's about time these 70s and 80s children's programmes were resurrected on DVD.
It's about time that TBoD was out. Hopefully, they have done some extra features for the disc too.
All the talk about A Christmas Carol in The Green Dog made me think about The Box of Delights again. I mailed the BBC shop and got the following reply this morning:
"Thank you for your enquiry.
The Box of Delights is scheduled for release on 01/11/04 and should be
available to pre-order in October 2004
Kind Regards,

I asked whether there were details about any extras but didn't get a reply.

Mmmm ... it's not new news ... but I'm still scared it'll be a cack release.
I know so many people who'd do that release for free just to get it right.
Let's hope the Beeb put some effort in.
As much as I'd like to see a plethora of extras (including the Blue Peter segment) I'd be happy if it's released in episodic form rather than a direct copy of the vhs movie length version.
Anyone heard the radio version? Any good?

They've already reformatted it for widescreen for the CBBC broadcasts so they just have to remix it to 5.1 with newly added sound effects and slot in the newly shot Dale Winton footage then we're in business.
As long as it has been reformatted then I'll be happy.
What's the point of owning a 16:9 set if you're missing all that picture?!!
It's madness.
I write endless letters and they don't listen.
:P
I've often wondered that!Originally posted by Matt West@25 Jun 2004, 12:19 PM

In fairness though, unlike most people on this forum I prefer film to TV so it's a benefit.
Has anyone heard the radio version of The Box of Delights?
