Ah, now this is tough; X The Unknown is a brilliant Quatermass, non-Quatermass, but The Abominable Snowman (again) scared the hell out of me as a child, is quite subtle, and features a wonderful Cushing performance. I came to Losey's The Damned late, it's almost two films in one, there's Ollie Reed. And it's fantastically *different*, almost 'not Hammer'.

Each is wonderful in their own very different way; but I can picture myself watching TAS on my nan's venerable walnut veneered tube. So for old time's sake...

It is a fab film; another slice of Nigel Kneale greatness. Thoughtful, atmospheric and with great performances. Love Richard Wattis in this.

Abominable Snowman, which I first saw on ITV one afternoon when I'd bunked off school "ill". Loved it.

Haven't see three of them, but tentatively my contenders are Abominable Snowmen (I never used to like but it's improved through more adult eyes when I last watched it) and The Damned, which is a bit mad.

I really like The Damned; a powerful film that's something of a Hammer and British SF film highpoint; really fascinating and very dark.

Can somebody remind me why The Abominable Snowman is classed as Science Fiction?

Straight on the left, then right past the thing, then, up the little stairs, then right by where it's gone all soft, then down the wobbly bit, past the nail, past the brown stain on the wall to your right... smegheadreed's Avatar

The Abominable Snowman is one of my favourite Hammer films, full stop. I admire The Damned and Moon Zero Two is just mad fun. X: The Unknown is bloody good as well. Damn, John was right, this is a tough poll. In the end, my vote goes to The Abominable Snowman, with Cushing on top form with an intelligent and thoughtful script.

Voted for Moon Zero Two, mainly because I don't class The Abominable Snowman as science fiction. Honorable mention for X the Unknown also.

Mythical monster story given a post-nuclear world spin; a Nigel Kneale melange of science, mysticism and politics - for the purposes of the poll, it works for me. Lord, I hope it comes on Blu; the Anchor Bay DVD transfer is nasty.

Tough call, as X-The Unknown, The Abominable Snowman and The Damned are all in their various ways, equally fab. In the end I wnet for The Damned, if only for that song... Black leather, black leather, crash-crash-crash!

The Abominable Snowman, simply because it's the only one of these I've seen!

I've viewed most of them, the most recent of which was Four-Sided Triangle which I enjoyed very much so I'll go with that.
So much to view, so little time..... DVD Collection & Wants
