Birds of a Feather on stage

I though we had a generic 'Sitcoms on stage' thread but 15 minutes of searching is my upper limit.

Anyway, Pauline Quirke is leaving Emmerdale later in the year so that she can join a touring production of Birds of a Feather (a few details here). I have to say that, having liked it at the time (as a kid), I found the series mostly appalling on rewatching but I'll probably go to see it as a good friend is a big fan. I do like the three actresses (even if Robson has no discernible talent).

The actresses have always said they'd be open to a reunion - so I'm not surprised this is happening. As you say, whether there is appetite remains to be seen. Clearly there isn't appetite on TV, otherwise they would surely be doing a special/tv series first?

Lesley Joseph will look hideous and disturbing as Dorien now. Not that she didn't 20 years ago...

The time has long passed, I really can't see it being that popular a night out.

As a huge fan I'd be up for a trip to see it if only to see the three of them on stage together. Personally I'd have thought the series was ripe for a few christmas specials especially after Danny Cohens BBC1 sitcome statements and I am sure there would be an audience for it.

I'm sure anyone who goes to see a stage version will have nothing but good will for it - but will there be enough of an audience? They might have to work twice as hard to get the same degree of goodwill from an audience who may not even remember the show if it were shown on TV.

I'll be definitely going to see this when it comes to Cardiff, I'm a big fan of Pauline Quirke so it would be nice to meet her.
I just love deadlines, especially the whoosing sound they make as they fly past you . . . Douglas Adams

I'm hoping to catch either the Blackpool or Salford dates.

I've had my tickets for months!

Taking my friend for his birthday, should be fun

Well we had fairly low expectations but were very surprised by how good this was! It has a proper plot, great performances and funny (if rather rude) jokes. The audience loved it, too - sold out even though it was a Wednesday matinee, perhaps indicating that it has been a success.

It's produced by Jan Hunt, who you might remember from Crackerjack.
