Keshka, have you seen his live show (simply "Lee Mack: Live") on DVD?
Both Tim Vine and Lee Mack are terrific live - both different in style of course, but both better with a live audience than they are on the telly (although I think they're good on the telly too).
Searched about 5 times and the search engine came up with nothing. Nada.
New series starts this Friday coming on BBC1.

Surely this programme should be retitled Not Being Axed?
Something of a lack of comedy on at the moment, so this is a welcome return for me.
No thoughts on this?
I thought this was a definite improvement on the vast majority of the last series, although it's still not what it was, and relies a little too much on completely unrealistic (distractingly so) scenarios. Although the gags were good, which is the most important thing.![]()
" I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong... I don’t have to know an answer. I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me."

Series 5 episode 1, it was ok. The lack of other decent sitcoms makes it seem better than it is for me. It may be my imagination, but has the background laughter been turned down abit ?
Some scenes seemed a bit forced but it was funny which is the main thing.

A welcome return for me as well - it made me laugh pretty much all the way through, so job done - no work of art but no real complaints!
I can't decide what to make of this show. It's got two great comics in it, I like the female character who chips in with left-field asides, and I don't mind the silly scenarios in the least. Yet, I never see it as a 'must-see' show. I've probably seen around three or four random episodes (including the first of this new series) and it really does seem to be the most mediocre of shows, even though in many ways it isn't. I mean, it pisses on My Family and many other current comedies. Really can't explain my apathy towards it, because I know it isn't bad.

Is Christopher Trace's awe canon?
Every time someone calls it 'The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve' I shudder
It was an odd one. As usual the one-liners made me laugh a fair amount but the whole gig/band portrayal (and indeed the plot) was straight out of a 1970s ITV sitcom - particularly the way Lucy's character was reduced to stock sitcom female in falling for "Stretch" (which was itself a horribly clichéd sitcom name).
Overall it felt rather underwritten.
I know what you mean - I like Not Going Out a great deal, and it's something I can return to again and again. But I don't really rate it as a 'quality' programme. I think what draws me to it is the gags - I love comedy based on wordplay and being clever with language, and that's very much what the show bases itself around.
