This better be a big step up from the horrid older remaster of The Godfather.
Available now from Textbook Stuff through Big Finish:
Over 80 classic poems by Robert Browning, Andrew Marvell, Edward Thomas, and Christina Rossetti for £25.
16 horror stories by M.R. James, Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe, and Charles Dickens for £35.
Each unabridged reading is enhanced with full sound design and incidental music.

I am in no way affiliated with Textbook Stuff or Big Finish. Just buy 'em if you have good taste.

I've just went and ordered the R2 steelbook DVD for under £18 to see the remastering, because if it's not a night and day difference, that Blu price is way too high.

I'd say the price is far too high anyway. I can't see how any kind of content could justify that. It seems like they're actually going out of their way to sabotage their own releases. The Omen set from Fox carries another jaw-dropping price tag.

On that note, I'm a little stunned by the price of the new SD Fox/MGM Hitchcock set in R1. What's going on here?

Could it be a typo? They did foul up on the synopsis for The Lodger after all. I suppose it's too much to hope they just slipped an extra 1 in at the beginning.

I hope so; I can't believe studios have suddenly decided this is the way to survive the credit crunch, though it's conceivable that they've figured that soaking the BD end of the game is actually a way forward...

I can't make head nor tail of the pricing strategy for some new Blu releases - have they decided to give up on trying to entice new customers and just milk the current ones?

I've had a look at the remastered DVD set, and the first film, althugh cleaned up very well, is of course limited by the source material. From my upscalled viewing, I can see the only big benefit of the Blu version will be a higher bitrate.

The new extras, however, are good.

I, for one, am totally happy with the new remasterd SD DVD steelbook set (17.98 at Amazon.co.uk).
