Doesn't look overflowing with material, but I see one or two things are exclusive to these new discs. Crap, I hope they're not going to make me buy them again.

Wow, what a line up. Someone, please, hold me back. No really, please. George, Steven - you're spoiling us.

If they release them on BD though...

Are they supposed to be proper 'Special Editions'? I thought they were just budget reissues to tie in with the new film...

I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me."

Have only officially been announced in R1, on the Paramount trade internet site, although I believe listing is currently pulled (although certain to return to tie into Indy 4 at cinemas). That listing called the new disks Special Editions.

Although given the way studios call disks SE, Ultimate Editions, Definitive Editions and still bring out new versions something being called a SE is no guarantee of quality and quantity of content and extras.

There's a bit more detail about the special features here:

I wouldn't mind seeing the The American Film Institute Tribute on The Last Crusade disc.

I definitely want to see an uncut R2 "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom." For one thing, one of the cuts excises an important plot point...

Short Round only discovers that fire cures the Thuggie possession when he burns one of the guards in the side with a flaming torch. In the cut version, this sequence is censored, so he magically acquires this knowledge from nowhere...

It is already available uncut in R2 just buy a continental European version. The Scandinavian 4 disk boxset is now only around £20. Content is identical globally its just been censored in the UK to get the lower rating.

Nope. That shot was removed from all the versions, to tighten up the pacing, along with a great many other scenes. The bit where Shortround brings Indy out of it plays fine, though, since it merely looks like he stuffs a lit torch into Indy's side in desperation - in other words, doing exactly what he did with the guard earlier. Showing it twice does seem a little poinltess.

The cuts only apply to the first sacrifice, the whipping of Shortround, and the final fistfight between Indy and the giant guard (presumably Pat Roach).

Also the sound design for the scene where Indy becomes possessed. In the UK version there are no sound effects, he silently writhes around. In the uncut version Indy screams several times with an echo effect.

Is the new stuff any good? I was tempted, given the price, and the nice slimline packaging...

Isn't it better to wait for the inevitable four-film set?
