Thanks nebiroth and John.
Does the Italian DVD of The Man Who Could Cheat Death (1958) have the fleeting nudity?
The US region free Bluray of The Man Who Could Cheat Death is available for peanuts , and you get the Amicus classic The Skull into the bargain.
Unfortunately even in HD it's still one of the dullest Hammer films ever
Thanks for the info.
Watched Scarlet Blade and The Brigand Of Kandahar
Spoiler
Not sure where all that stock footage came from in Kandahar. Watching the actors bobbing up and down in front of it as though they were riding a horse was a comedy highlight. :D
Finally got round to watching Stop Me Before I Kill yesterday.
Is it Hammers longest ever film at nearly 1h48?
The brief topless shot of Diane Cilento seems risque for 1960
I think it is the longest 'classic" Hammer movie, followed by "One Million Years BC" at 100 mins. Of the whole Hammer output, "Let Me In" is longer at about 115 mins.
The longest classic era Hammer films:
The Full Treatment = 108 minutes
She = 105 minutes
The Vengeance of She / Frankenstein Must be Destroyed! = 101 minutes
One Million Years BC / Moon Zero Two = 100 minutes
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth = 99 minutes
Looks like Fanatic (Die Die My Darling) is up for MOD reissue soon according to Screen Archives
Another title that has already had a proper DVD released worldwide from Sony.
That vanished without much fanfare. I'm glad I already have it. Not a bad film at all, it's stuck with me more than a myriad of other B-Hammers (my own name for the lesser known Hammers today).
"Fanatic" is good fun with a good Richard Matheson script. It makes a nice change from Jimmy Sangster's psychothrillers.
