Christopher Walken, Brooke Adams, Herbert Lom,
Cronenberg’s The Dead Zone, about a teacher (Christopher Walken)
cursed with precognition, is an altogether classier effort, and justly
regarded as one of the best film adaptations of a Stephen King novel. The
Region 2 disc from Sanctuary presents the film in a smart 1.85:1
anamorphic transfer, uncut (previous UK VHS releases had a minor BBFC
edit), and with a full 5.1 audio mix (at 448kbps).
disc also features a commentary track (by Stephen Jones and Kim Newman),
and the film’s theatrical trailer. A nicely illustrated 24-page booklet
is also included, which includes script pages for a deleted prologue
scene, set eighteen years before the rest of the movie.
